The Salt Lake Summer Night Events Worth Leaving the House For

Salt Lake has an amazing summer and people here take it seriously. Once the weather turns, the city fills up with outdoor concerts, night markets, and rooftop bars that make you glad you live here. If you’ve been sticking to the same dinner spots and calling it a night early, there’s a lot you’re missing.

This guide covers the events and spots worth getting out for this season.

Twilight Concert Series

July 13, July 17, July 27, August 4, August 29, October 1, 2026

It’s a free outdoor concert series that runs through the summer and fall. You can catch Old Crow Medicine Show, Freddie Gibbs, Suki Waterhouse, MUNA, Goose, and The War On Drugs at different dates, so pick the ones you care about and make an evening of it.

I love that this series pairs national acts with local musicians, so you get a full lineup without paying concert prices. Bring a blanket, show up early if you want a good spot. It’s good for date night or going with friends. Since it runs through October, you can hit multiple shows instead of picking just one.

Red Butte Concert Series

May 31 – September 22, 2026, gates typically 6-6:30pm

It’s an outdoor concert series at the Red Butte Garden amphitheater that runs from late May through September with 31 shows. I’m going to Alabama Shakes and Ziggy Marley — those are the two I’m most excited about this year.

The garden setting is beautiful and you can bring your own cooler with food and drinks, which honestly makes it one of the best concert experiences in the area. Gates open around 6 or 6:30 depending on the show, music starts around 7 or 7:30. Bring chairs or a blanket. Good for date night or a group outing, and since there are so many shows you can go multiple times through the summer.

Haglund Ranch Concert Series

Year-round with scheduled performances

It’s an intimate backyard concert series that runs year-round with scheduled performances. It’s donation-based and supports music lessons for underprivileged kids, so you’re helping a good cause while catching live local music.

The setting is a ranch with horses, so it’s a totally different vibe from the bigger concert venues. Bring blankets because the seating is casual. It’s family-friendly and kids are welcome, which is rare for evening live music. The atmosphere is relaxed and you’re up close to the musicians, not in a crowd of thousands.

Millcreek Summer Jam Concert Series

Every Monday night in June through August, 7:00 PM

It’s a free outdoor concert series every Monday night from June through August at Canyon Rim Park. Local musicians, starts at 7, and you can bring food, kids, and dogs.

I love that it’s every Monday so you can make it a weekly thing if you want. Bring a picnic dinner or grab food nearby and post up on the grass. Dogs are allowed so I see a lot of people bringing theirs. It’s super low-key, good for families or just hanging out with friends on a weeknight.

Holladay Summer Concert Series

July 4, July 11, July 18, July 25, August 1, August 8, August 15, August 22, 2026

It’s a free outdoor concert series running Friday nights in July and August. Eight shows total, so you can catch one or come back for several.

Friday nights in the summer are tough to plan around, but this makes it easy. Bring a blanket, grab dinner beforehand or bring snacks, and you’re set. Good for families or date night. Since it’s eight weeks in a row you can make it part of your summer routine instead of a one-off thing.

Go Find Your Spot

Salt Lake has a lot going on this summer and most of it is either free or close to it. As a real estate agent in Salt Lake, I stay plugged into what’s happening across neighborhoods because it matters when you’re helping someone figure out where to put down roots. Summer nightlife is one of the best ways to understand what a neighborhood actually feels like.

Pick one spot from this list and get out there this week.
