There’s a stretch every summer where my weekends start at a farmers market. I grab coffee, pick up a loaf of sourdough, maybe some peaches or herbs for dinner. It’s funny how buying one bunch of basil can spawn an entire Italian dinner. It’s one of my favorite things about summer here.
So if you’re looking for a good farmers market in Millcreek and Holladay, or want to find a few local farms worth the drive, here are the ones I love to visit.
Millcreek Farmers Market
1354 E Chambers Ave, Millcreek
Wednesdays, hours vary
I love the variety here. On their Instagram, they mention vendors like Nani Swimwear and Tantalus Rapid Brew coffee, but the produce selection is what I come back for. Fresh greens, seasonal vegetables, and local baked goods show up every week.
It’s my closest option in Millcreek and I can walk there. The produce turnover is fast so everything is fresh, and I’ve tried enough of the vendors to know what I’m getting.
Murray Park Farmers Market
296 E Murray Park Ave, Murray
Friday and Saturday, 8 AM to 1 PM
This one runs Friday and Saturday mornings, so I hit it up on weekends. The produce is solid and the prices are fair. I pick up whatever’s in season and usually grab some baked goods too.
The weekend schedule works for me because I’m not rushing before work. I can take my time, talk to the vendors, and actually pick through everything.
Wheeler Historic Farm Sunday Market
6351 S 900 E, Murray
Check their schedule
Wheeler is a working farm so the market feels different. You’re getting produce from the farm itself plus other local vendors. I go for the fresh vegetables and the fact that it’s on actual farmland.
It’s a Sunday market, which is rare around here. If I missed the Friday or Saturday ones, this is my backup. Plus the farm setting means my kids can see the animals while I shop.
Holladay Farmer’s Market
4800 S Highland Dr, Salt Lake City
Check their schedule
Holladay’s market is smaller but consistent. I go when I’m already in that area and need to grab fresh produce. The selection isn’t huge but it’s reliable.
It’s right off Highland Drive so I can stop in without going out of my way. Quick in and out when I don’t have time for a bigger market.
Tagge’s Fruit Stand – Holladay
4747 Holladay Blvd E, Holladay
Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM
Tagge’s has been around since 1977 and they focus on fruit. On their Instagram, they post specials like strawberry flats for $12. I go for their peaches, cherries, and whatever stone fruit is in season. They also carry homemade jams and salsas.
The fruit is always fresh because they run their own farm. I stock up when peaches are in season and grab a jar of their homemade jam every time. The prices are fair and the quality is consistent.
The Millcreek and Holladay Summer Routine I’d Recommend
If you haven’t built these into your summer yet, start with Millcreek Farmers Market, or do a quick produce run to Wheeler Historic Farm Sunday Market. You’ll probably end up planning a Saturday or two around them like I do.
These are the kinds of places I send clients to all the time. Not as a sales thing, just because they’re genuinely some of the best parts of living here.
